By accessing or using the Splitwyse mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into a binding contract.
Splitwyse is a household finance management application designed for couples with partially-shared finances. The Service enables you and your partner to:
Splitwyse does not initiate financial transfers, hold funds, or act as a financial institution. Settlements occur through third-party payment platforms; Splitwyse only provides deep links and an in-app confirmation ledger.
You must create an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
Each household supports exactly two members. The member who creates the household is the owner. The owner may invite a partner via a unique invite code. Both members must maintain active accounts.
When you invite a partner to your household, that partner will be able to view shared transaction data and fairness calculations as governed by your configured privacy settings. You are responsible for ensuring your partner consents to this data sharing.
You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use at [email protected].
New households receive a 30-day free trial from the date of household creation. No payment method is required to start the trial.
After the trial, the Service requires a subscription of $6.99 per month per household (covers both partners). The subscription is managed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and processed by RevenueCat.
Prices are in U.S. dollars and may vary by region due to taxes or store pricing policies. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your device's account settings.
Refunds are handled by the respective app store according to their policies. Splitwyse does not process refunds directly.
If your subscription lapses, you will lose access to the Service. Your data will be retained for 90 days after expiration, during which you may resubscribe to restore access. After 90 days, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

The Service integrates with third-party services including Plaid, RevenueCat, Supabase, and Anthropic. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and policies. Splitwyse is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services.
By linking bank accounts through Plaid, you agree to Plaid's End User Services Agreement.
Settlement deep links direct you to Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App. Splitwyse does not facilitate, process, or guarantee these payments. You are solely responsible for any transactions conducted on third-party payment platforms.
The Service and all content, features, and functionality (including software, design, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks) are owned by Splitwyse and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
User-generated content (expense descriptions, categories, and classifications) remains your property. By using the Service, you grant Splitwyse a limited license to process and display this content as necessary to provide the Service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Splitwyse and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Splitwyse's total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Splitwyse in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Splitwyse does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice. Any information provided by the Service is for informational purposes only. Consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at all times. We do not guarantee the accuracy of transaction categorization, fairness calculations, or financial forecasts. Bank sync availability depends on Plaid and your financial institution.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Splitwyse and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. You may delete your account at any time through the in-app Settings or by contacting support. Data deletion follows the retention terms in our Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app, email, or other means at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
